Full schedule: ‘Paint Sale & Ashton on Mersey Pink’ 2023 launch event
The town’s businesses will ‘Paint Sale & Ashton on Mersey Pink’ for two weeks next month.
Campaign volunteers have been working with local charity Prevent Breast Cancer, based at the Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, and the charity’s ambassadors, to encourage the town’s businesses to get involved.
The campaign will run 01-15 October and a programme of fundraising and awareness events will kickstart with a special launch event on Sunday 01 October at Stanley Square in Sale town centre.
The event, which takes place between 12-4pm, includes performances from three local dance schools – Footlights Theatre, Stalder Academy of Dance and Prime Dance – plus outdoor exercise classes and live musical performances from the Rock Choir and female vocalist Kim Alvord.
Other family-friendly event highlights include a Barbie ‘meet and greet’ and a glitter face painting station.

Following a call to get involved earlier in the year, a number of Sale’s local businesses are creating special pink-themed products and events, with proceeds going to the charity. Businesses taking part include Brooklands Health Club, Walton Perk and Willow Goat Crafts.
Bridgewater Trafford Rotary is also supporting the campaign with a ‘yarn bombing’ of Stanley Square and securing donations of materials and raffle prizes.
With support from St George’s ‘Knit and Natter’ knit group, ‘Art with a Heart’ volunteers and ‘Crochet and Chat’ group, the Rotarians have been busy knitting and crocheting items to help turn Stanley Square Pink (see photos below - © Bridgewater Trafford Rotary).
Rotary president Karen Wroe said "As the new kid on the block, we wanted to show that Rotary is more than a funding organisation but a service one too.
"Utilising our skills and connections we will be helping to turn Sale Town Pink themed on the pink ‘boobee’."
Local residents can donate to the cause and it’s not too late for businesses to get involved. With a huge amount of local support for Prevent Breast Cancer, we would encourage everyone to get involved either by attending some of the events or visiting the businesses that are taking part with pink-themed windows.
The Paint Sale and Ashton on Mersey Pink fortnight is all about raising awareness and raising some funds for the charity, but it’s also about having some fun. Show your support as much as possible and enjoy the events!
📍 The Paint Sale and Ashton on Mersey Pink campaign runs from 01 - 15 October. The launch event takes place on Sunday 01 October, 12-4pm in Stanley Square (Sale, M33 7ZZ).
