Sale primary school gets creative for Clean Air Day 2023

St Anne’s C of E Primary School made an exceptional effort for Clean Air Day 2023.

Staff and pupils at Sale’s St Anne’s C of E Primary School supported this year’s Clean Air Day

Over the last week, students and staff alike have been supporting the campaign, which aims to promote more sustainable ways to travel to work and school and raise awareness of the amount of pollution being released into the air.

The school is passionate about raising awareness about tackling air pollution, so decided to get involved and take action. Pupils and their families have been trying to make a more conscious effort to leave their cars at home and have been walking, cycling and scooting to school.

They held a ‘decorate your bike or scooter’ competition, where pupils displayed their clean air pledges on the way to and from school. According to a school staff member, “It is our hope to reduce the air pollution on school streets by encouraging our families to continue leaving their cars at home where possible and promoting the health risk involved when car engines are left idling.”

The school has plans for the future to continue supporting a clean air campaign and is determined to reduce the level of air population for the wellbeing of its pupils and the local community's health.
