Must see: Neighbourhood Gallery's 'Abstraction' exhibition

Neighbourhood Gallery in Stanley Square has announced 'Abstraction', its third exhibition at its M33 pop-up.

This new exhibition runs from 12 January to 03 February 2024.

An exhibition showcasing a huge variety of abstract work, all from North West based artists.

Abstraction’ is an open call exhibition that aims to celebrate all that is abstract art. As the gallery's website states, 'abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.’

Famous abstract artists include Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. Each celebrate colour, fluidity and the joy of painting. The 'Abstraction' exhibition aims to showcase all forms of work including a mix of mediums, all from local artist creating work that fits the theme.

Another definition of Abstract Art says that this ‘can be defined as modern art that does not symbolise things of the natural world. The artwork contains colour, shapes, and lines but not of the living entity.’

Domino Panton-Oakley, co-founder of Neighbourhood Gallery said, "It has been amazing having Neighbourhood Gallery in the heart of Sale, we have had some great success so far! So many artists that we work with have said how wonderful the space and area is.

"We have sold lots of artists' work to local people and seen some up in offices in Sale too! Also, it's been wonderful seeing so many people come to our workshops and learning new creative skills themselves.

"We have learnt so much from having the pop up gallery here, and are very much looking forward to the next exhibition!"

The exhibition will be held at the Neighbourhood Gallery Pop Up in Sale’s Stanley Square. The exhibition launches on Thursday 11 January from 6.30pm and then runs from Friday 12 January to Saturday 03 February 2024.

🕙 Neighbourhood Gallery is open Wednesday - Saturday, 10am - 5pm. The exhibition is free, no booking required.
